Getting started

Three things need to be switched on before UPI Voice Alert can hear and announce a payment.

  1. Grant Notification Access.

Open the Setup tab and tap Enable next to Notification Listener Access. We explain exactly what this permission does before Android asks you to confirm it.

  2. Allow notifications.

On Android 13 and newer, also grant the regular Notifications permission when prompted — it's required for the app to be notification-aware at all.

  3. Run a Test Notification.

In Settings → Voice → Test Notification (or the Debug tab in test builds), tap Test Notification to hear exactly what a ₹500 payment will sound like.

Why does the app need notification access?

It's the only way Android lets an app detect a payment notification without you opening the app yourself. We only look for patterns matching supported payment apps' success notifications — everything else is ignored and never leaves your device.

The app isn't announcing payments. What should I check?

Work through this checklist in order:

  • Open Setup and confirm every check is green — especially Notification Listener Access, which some phones silently revoke after a restart.
  • Make sure your phone's Notification volume is turned up.
  • Check Payment Alert is switched on in Settings (it can be muted independently of notification access).
  • Confirm the payment app that received the money is one we currently support.
  • On some phones, aggressive battery optimization can stop background listeners — if the app is being "battery optimized" or "put to sleep," allow it to run normally for reliable detection.
Does this app read my SMS or bank OTPs?
No — never

UPI Voice Alert does not request SMS or call log permissions. You sign in with Google Sign-In, so there's no OTP step and no phone number involved anywhere in the app.

Will I lose my payment history if I uninstall the app?

Yes — your transaction history and reports are stored only on your device, so uninstalling UPI Voice Alert permanently deletes them. There's no cloud backup to restore from, so if you want to keep a record, export or share your reports as a PDF before uninstalling.

Your account itself isn't affected: if you reinstall and sign back in with the same Google account, your merchant profile, UPI ID, and team member list all come back automatically — just not your past transactions.

Can I change the announcement language?

Yes — go to Settings → Voice → Language and choose from the supported Indian languages. If a language's voice pack isn't installed on your phone yet, we'll show a button that takes you straight to install it.

How do I put my QR code on my home screen?

Open the QR tab and tap Add Home Screen Widget. On most phones this places it directly; on a few launchers that don't support direct placement, we'll show you where to find it in your launcher's widget picker instead.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Go to Settings → Manage Subscription, or open the Google Play Store app → Subscriptions → UPI Voice Alert → Cancel. You'll keep access until the end of the period you've already paid for. See our Refund Policy for how refunds work.

I'm receiving payment report emails I didn't sign up for. What do I do?

A merchant using UPI Voice Alert may have added your email as a team member. If you'd rather not receive these reports, email apptriq.support@gmail.com and we'll remove your address — or ask the merchant to remove you from their team in the app's Team tab.

How do I delete my account and data?

Go to Settings → Delete Account and confirm. This permanently removes your login and associated account data — see our Delete Your Account page for exact steps and what gets deleted.
