Privacy Policy

Last updated 25 August 2026 · Applies to the UPI Voice Alert Android app

UPI Voice Alert turns your phone into a voice-alert device for UPI payments — it listens for supported payment app notifications on your device and announces successful incoming payments out loud. This policy explains, plainly, what that involves for your data.

01 Overview

UPI Voice Alert ("the app", "we", "us") is developed and operated under the brand AppTriq by Rock Lee Digital, registered in Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, India. This policy covers the Android app available on Google Play, and it applies to every merchant who installs it — whether you use it purely on-device today, or later sign in for team alerts and subscriptions.

Our starting principle: payment notification content is processed on your device wherever technically possible. We do not upload your complete notification history to any server, and we do not read notifications unrelated to payments.

02 Information we collect

Payment notifications, processed on-device

When a supported UPI or payment app posts a notification, our on-device parser reads it to decide whether it represents a successful incoming payment. If it does, we extract only what's needed to announce and log it: the amount, the source app, the time, and — when the notification includes one — a reference/transaction ID. This happens entirely on your phone.

Transaction history

Parsed payment events are saved to a local database on your device so you can see Today's Collection and Recent Payments. We keep:

FieldWhy
Generated transaction IDLets the app reference this record locally
Amount & currencyShown in your reports and collection totals
Date & timeSorts and groups your reports
Payment source appShown next to each transaction
Reference ID (if available)Helps you cross-check against your bank/UPI app

Account information

You sign in using Google Sign-In — we never see or store your Google password, and we don't collect or store your phone number for login purposes. We store the email address associated with your Google account, the merchant/shop name and UPI ID you choose to show on your QR code, and your subscription status.

Team information

If you add team members, a minimal payment event — amount, payment source, timestamp, and reference ID if available — is written to our database so a scheduled process can email a daily summary to the email addresses you've added. That process deletes each event from our database within moments of successfully sending it, so this data is never kept longer than it takes to deliver that day's report. We do not send unrelated notification content for this feature either.

Team members don't have accounts. Anyone you add to your team receives daily payment report emails at the address you provide — they never sign into the app themselves, and no separate account or profile is created for them. As the team owner, you're responsible for only adding people who've agreed to receive these emails, and for removing anyone who asks you to stop.

Subscription & billing

Subscriptions are handled entirely by Google Play Billing. We receive confirmation of your subscription status from Google Play; we never see or store your card number, UPI PIN, or other payment credentials.

03 What we never collect

Regardless of which features you use, UPI Voice Alert does not request or read:

  • Your SMS messages
  • Your call log
  • Your contacts
  • Your precise location
  • Unrelated app notifications
  • Your banking PIN or passwords
  • Your phone number
Sign-in doesn't touch your SMS. We use Google Sign-In for login — there's no OTP step, no SMS permission, and no phone number involved anywhere in the app.

04 How we use it

  • Detect a successful incoming payment and play the sound + spoken amount you've configured.
  • Show your transaction history, Today's Collection, and Reports.
  • Generate your UPI payment QR code from the UPI ID and name you provide.
  • Sign you in and keep your merchant profile associated with your account.
  • Notify your invited team members when a payment is detected, if Team Sync is enabled.
  • Verify and maintain your subscription entitlement through Google Play Billing.
  • Respond to support requests you send us.

05 Notification access, explained

Android's Notification Listener permission is the most sensitive permission this app requests, so we want to be direct about it. Granting it lets the app read the notifications posted on your phone — that's the only way to detect an incoming payment without you opening the app each time.

In practice: our parser looks only for patterns matching supported payment apps' success notifications. Everything else — messages, social apps, calendar reminders, and so on — is not read for payment purposes, not stored, and never sent anywhere. You can review or revoke this access at any time from your phone's Settings, and the in-app Setup screen shows exactly how.

06 Storage & retention

Transaction history lives only in a local database on your device — it is never uploaded to our servers. It stays there until you clear it, uninstall the app, or delete your account.

Uninstalling the app deletes your local history. Because your transaction history and reports live only on your device, uninstalling UPI Voice Alert permanently deletes them — there is no cloud backup to restore from. Your account itself (see below) is not affected by an uninstall, since it lives separately in the cloud tied to your Google sign-in; reinstalling and signing back in restores your merchant profile, UPI ID, and team member list, but not your past transaction history.

If you're signed in, your account and profile data (email address, merchant name, UPI ID, subscription status, team membership) is stored in Cloud Firestore, isolated to your account by security rules that prevent other merchants or team members from reading data they weren't invited to see. Team payment-report data is kept only briefly — see Team information above.

Deleting your account removes your Firebase Authentication record and associated Firestore data, and also erases your local transaction history and settings on this device — the same as an uninstall, but triggered by you from within the app rather than by removing the app itself. This is subject to what we're legally required to retain (for example, billing records needed for tax/accounting compliance).

07 Sharing & third parties

We do not sell your data. We share it only in these situations:

  • With your team. Minimal payment event data, only with members you've explicitly invited and who accepted.
  • With service providers who run the app. Firebase/Google Cloud (authentication, database, and push notifications), Google Play Billing (subscription processing), and Gmail (delivering team payment-report emails) — each bound by their own data-processing terms, and each given only what's needed to provide that service.
  • When the law requires it. If we're compelled by a valid legal process.

08 Advertising

UPI Voice Alert is free to use. On the free plan, we show ads through Google AdMob to support the app; upgrading to Pro removes all ads. Ads never appear on the QR screen (so a customer scanning your code never sees one), and are never shown in a way that interferes with payment detection or the voice announcement itself.

Google AdMob may collect your device's advertising ID and other technical identifiers (such as your general, approximate location and device information) to select and measure ads, and may share this with its advertising partners under its own privacy terms. We don't control what Google or its partners do with that data beyond what's described in Google's own policy for how data is used in ads. Payment notification content itself is never shared with AdMob or any advertiser — the two systems are entirely separate.

If ads repeatedly fail to load — most often because of a network issue or a device-level ad blocker — the app may show a small, dismissible message suggesting Pro. This is only ever a suggestion; every feature of the app keeps working normally whether or not ads are loading.

09 Permissions

PermissionWhy we ask
Notification accessDetect incoming payment notifications from supported apps
Post notificationsRequired on Android 13+ for the app to be notification-aware
InternetSign-in, team sync, subscription status, and loading ads on the free plan — not required for on-device detection and announcements
Advertising ID (AD_ID)Included automatically by the Google Mobile Ads SDK to show ads on the free plan — see Advertising above

We deliberately do not request SMS, call log, phone state, contacts, location, or NFC permissions unless a future feature genuinely needs one — and if that ever changes, this policy and the in-app permission screen will say so clearly before you're asked to grant it.

10 Your choices & rights

  • Mute alerts without losing access. Turning off Payment Alert in Settings stops announcements but keeps recording transactions; it does not revoke notification access.
  • Revoke notification access anytime from your phone's system settings — the app will simply stop detecting payments until you turn it back on.
  • Delete your account from Settings → Delete Account, which removes your login and associated account data per the retention terms above — see the Delete Your Account page for exact steps.
  • Leave a team at any time, which stops future payment events from being shared with that team.

11 Children's privacy

UPI Voice Alert is a business tool for merchants and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we'll remove it.

12 Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including Firestore security rules that isolate each merchant's and team's data from others, and encrypted connections between the app and our backend. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your data appropriately for what it is.

13 Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, let you know inside the app. Continued use of UPI Voice Alert after a change means you accept the updated policy.
